Snowflake food disintegrates rapidly into small flakes when in water. This food is highly sought after by snails, crabs, and especially shrimp keepers as it is a great source of protein for both adult and juvenile shrimp.

Incorporating it into the feeding schedule at least once a week, along with leaf litter, is recommended. Snowflake food is also a growth medium for mycelia, the vegetative part of a fungus, which contains proteins, amino acids, fats, and other beneficial nutrients for shrimp.
